Dumper Truck
This type of vehicle is mainly used on the construction site, dumper trucks are used for the transportation of various loose materials such as sand, earth and gravel. The dumper typically carries its load in a skip which is situated in front of the driver – using hydraulics, the skip tips to dump the load. The modern day dumper can be used in a variety of different projects to transport various materials around the site.
Dumper trucks can vary greatly in size and capacity, the size of the truck bed will dictate the amount of material that can be carried
Forward Tipping Dumpers
This is the most common of dumper trucks, which can be found on construction sites. As the name suggests the load is tipped (dumped) forward. You can also have a self-loading dumper truck where a loading shovel powered by hydraulics can load the dumper.
Tracked Dumpers
Tracked dumpers provide superior traction and control, they are ideally suited for areas that may be difficult for wheeled dumpers such as steep inclines with muddy, wet ground.
Articulated Dumpers
An off road, all wheel drive vehicle – the articulated dump truck consists of a two-piece chassis, connected by a large articulated joint – powered via hydraulic rams on both sides this serves as a pivot point for front wheel steering. These dump trucks are large with high ground clearance. They are ideally suited to off road conditions and can function under extreme off road conditions, maintaining stability on rough terrain.
Difference between Dumpers and Dump trucks. Unlike a dumper truck a Dump truck is a large truck with the load carried at the rear of a cab. The load is tipped backwards.
